Chrysalis

This is my own process of reverse monoprinting and painting on 1/4" plexiglass.  I carve my own printing plates, and through a process of printing, painting, removing and repeating I build up layers of color in order to create each piece.  I also incorporate asemic writing, or calligraphic mark-making.  They are finished on the backside, and metal frames are mounted so that the pieces seem to "float" an inch from the wall.  The colors and textures, when viewed through the quarter-inch of plexiglass, have a depth that is best seen in person.  The reflective quality of the plexiglass really adds interest to each piece.
